Title: iOS 12
Post by: STEMO on 19 September 2018, 16:09:48
More changes for the sake of changes. OK, a few new apps that you can move to the last page, where all the other shite is dumped, but why do stupid, little things like change the position of the number/letter tab with the emoji tab? Why swipe down instead of up for control centre? Knobs.

Jaime will throw his out of the window.  ;D

Not a cider fan, then?

Mostly, but it slows your machine down deliberately instead of due to incompetence. ;)

are you sure you've got a real iPhone? control centre is still swipe up, notifications is still swipe down.

can't say I've ever paid enough attention to the number and emoji tab to know if they've moved or not.

Apple admitted it's more to just stabilise and improve rather than huge new gains, it's worth remembering in the not so distant past, that every couple of years we used to have to go PC World. We would then hand over a serious amount of cash, walk out with a box with "windows" written on it. Arrive home, take the CD's out and install, normally not a smooth process.

Now, we get huge software upgrades for free, in a short automated update.  :)

*note all platforms, Android etc also offer this, not just Apple specific.

Have to say, from a development point of view, this is our easiest iOS update ever, we've not had to do anything to support it from app perspective.

Few generations ago, we used to set aside around 2-3 months work to support the latest iOS.

not so sure about the development side - upgrading to Xcode 10 has royally screwed up the mac.  none of the simulators above iPhone 6 load and it crashes if you try!

Control centre is swipe down from top right under battery symbol, notifications is swipe down from top centre.  :P

Wouldn't have a gayphone if it was free. Android for phone, iOS for tablet.

We are only just starting that, luckily Xcode 10 was not a requirement for iOS 12, only from March 2019 for App submissions.

You on the beta? Final one is released, about to update our CI nodes.

No, I steer clear of the beta versions.  This is the full release.

Looks like the issue is with the drivers for older GPUs, so in a work environment, I suspect you have new kit and will be ok.

Apple are aware of the issue - seems to happen every time they update xcode!
