Im doing loads of woek over course of next year to v6

Compression raise
Fast road cams.
Mild porting
Exh manifolds
Sports cats
And eithe piggyback ecu or aftermarket

So compression ratio raise to original v6 spec is what im going for... 3.2 and 2.6 were lowered for emissions and other stuff.. 3.0 and 2.5 had high comp so taking it to that before i start anything else

Fit 2.5 heads
Do the 2.5 heads have the mounting holes for the ignition modules? '98 onwards maybe?

Later ones do, but why not use 2.6 heads? they are the same, IIRC, and the compression was reduced by pocketed pistons.
The smaller engines heads will need some porting to give full performance too.

QH, kit uses skf bearings and gates or Conti belt, swapping the back plates is all you do,...
Yep, every variety of kit I have seen has had exactly the same SKF bearings. It really doesn't matter what make you pick.

2.5 and 2.6 head dont use the sodium filled valves... and as u say require fair bit of porting

Soo just easier to remkve my std heads have a good skim decoke.. rrcut seats relap valves and jist port match heads

Should make nice difference even if jist returns it to what its lost haha

True. If you skim them yourself you can get exactly the compression you want too.
You just have to make sure the intake manifold will still bolt up in the valley with no leaks.

From bitter experience, this is a real, real issue with anything more than lightly skimmed heads....... :-[

You fit extra gasket between lower manifold and head if needed or slacer plate wkth gasket (like a decomp plate but for inlets..

OUT OF curiosity has anyone skimmed heads om these whats the limit before intake fitment becomes a issue

Other issue worth mentioning is you are still probably better off going for an earlier cam belt kit with the adjustable lower pulley rather than the correct one for your car as it stands now.reason being if you do end up skimming heads then a non adjustable pulley may leave you with valve timing slightly out and no way to get it right on that bank.

In that case the cheapest way to get a kit, with an adjustable bottom guide roller, is apparently to buy two of the below kit. Remove the required roller from the surplus backplate and if necessary reuse the washer currently on the engine. That also gives you a spare belt in case you disturb the cams again. Total outlay £39.98. Possibility of 5% off as well.

If the tensioner/roller backplate in the kit doesn't fit your engine then it's fine to swap the upper roller and the tensioner roller from the kit onto your existing backplate.

Other members on here have previously reported doing this. The bearings are the same SKF ones used in other kits. AC Delco is GM's own brand so the quality of the belt is going to be at least as good as any of the others.

Tried ordering one of those before. They insisted on asking for my registration number then claimed it wasn't compatible with my car. I told them I wanted the pictured kit regardless, and they told me I needed an alternative kit for £hundreds.  ;D P.O. pill administered. It's a scam IMHO.
