Went out to check the tyre pressure on the new tyre on the Mondeo and promptly lost the dust cap.  >:(

Spent 20 minutes looking for it with no joy.  Then spent 20 minutes hunting through the jumble in my garage for a bag of spares with no joy, even though I've seen them recently.  :-\  ::)

Took all the crap out of the boot and robbed the dust cap off the spare, and then for whatever reason all the crap that has sat neatly in the boot for ages just wouldn't fit back in.  >:(  Came in for a cuppa! Sigh...

It's going to be one of those days!  ::)

Why do dust caps always dissapear when dropped ? I always keep spare ones in the ashtray now 👍

My spares are in a safe place in the garage..... somewhere!  ;D

I struggle to get 550 miles from a tank.  That said, due to the £99 pump cut off, I tend not to be able to fill my tank...

Wrong Gearbox!

I get 550 miles to a tank on Velar when commuting, drops when city driving  :y
Maybe I'm not as reformed as I thought I was ;D

Not sure the later box would help much for me normally, except when tootling urban.  After all, the 2.7 XJ/XF/S-Types seem to manage huge mpg, with the older box :)

Besides, to get extra cogs, I'd have to suffer that stupid stop/start wank. No thanks!

Every poxy journey.

Actually, I'd have to check where you do turn it off on an XJ, because if its in the config menus, I think I'd just sit on the rev limiter at traffic lights, as that would be less painful.

On wifey's car it was a switch. So turning it off was no different from starting it up, putting it in gear, no big deal. The poxy thing hardly ever worked anyway, because the battery had to be at something like 90% for it to function. Lights and aircon on was enough to shut it up.

Today, the Battlebus got some electricity, as did the Pussy.  TBE got some air instead.

I wonder if you could 'code' it out if you ever changed to a start/stop Jag. It was easy on my Audi using VCDS. I just went in to central electrics, found the start/stop module. The options were Default to on, Default to off and memory. I chose 'memory' as it will always remember the last setting, which in my case is off.  :y  If you want it on, just leave it on when you turn the ignition off and it works as normal.  :y
Why can't they all be like that.  ::)

Unplug the module  :-X

Remind me why I shouldn’t like start/stop?  It works perfectly on the Mondeo. For interest I’ve tried quick starts with it on and off (engine idling), and it starts so quickly there is no discernible difference. I don’t see the problem, unless you are a permanent traffic light drag racer like TB.  :-\

Agree! Ask my granddaughter. The one for her Nissan Cashcow is stupidly expensive.
