I was in the "Senior Service"  ;) up untill 20 years ago. Spent a lot of time in Big Rod & Hotel 21's part of the world

Did you see any of the Falklands with the Navy, you would have been still in at that time.
Had a few mate that sailed up the estuary on that sad day

I was still a 'baby apprentice' in '82 so I didn't go down at the time. I did a tour of duty down there a few years later though, went ashore in Port Stanley to make a phone call (it's a pity mobiles weren't around at the time as it was something like £1-50 a minute using the satalite phone thingy). It's a bit like Scotland down there... but without the trees!  ;)  :y
The closed down whaling stations in South Gorgia were interesting though, trying to creep up on penguins.  ::)  ::)  ;D

I was working in Cambridge and could see Marshalls modifying Hercules C130 and Tristar aircraft to tanker mode to support the effort.
There is a Vulcan bomber under restoration at mo, was hoping to see it fly down the Mall on the 17th June but it looks like they have hit last second snags. www.tvoc.co.uk

I went to military school, that's as far as I got! A fair few of my school friends did therefore join up afterwards. I did consider joining a few times but never very seriously.
