Title: Economy Energy
Post by: Sir Tigger KC on 10 January 2019, 17:32:34
Anyone who is a customer of this company be aware that they have ceased trading if you didn't already know.  ::)

I'm not really surprised as just before Christmas I had my latest bills which had been calculated using estimated meter readings which were wildly inaccurate and gave me a debit balance approximately 10x what it should have been.  >:(  I wonder how many people they did this to and who paid up?  ???  ::)

I couldn't get through on the phone and they didn't reply to my email and I'm kicking myself now that I didn't cancel my direct debit! ::)

Anyway the lights are still on and the boiler is still chuntering away in the background!  :y

I'm with Octopus who took over from another energy company that went tits up.

So far I'd say they are the best energy company I've used.

If they give you Octo-pussy I'd stay with them. :)

I'm thinking of switching from British Gas and EON - Octopus Energy has good reviews on USwitch and a 5 star rating.
But there is always that niggling doubt when you hear of these less known companies going bust....

They'll probably go 'tits up' before you receive your first bill. :)

Ovo have been around for years. I don't know if you were tied in to a contract with Economy but, if the tariff you are put on is much more expensive than the one you were on, I would imagine you would be able to switch away without charge.

People get all het up over energy bills, but the difference between all the fixed term deals is not that great. Chill out and worry about something worth worrying about. Martin Lewis wets his pants over a £100 saving, but it's only £2 a week.

Could it be that a sudden burst of new quality electricity from Ovo killed my thermostat?  :-\  ;D

If you want to test you new electricity: Put a large nail into the positive terminal of a power socket adjacent to a radiator. Wet your left hand. Take hold of the aforementioned nail with your right hand. Place you left hand on the radiator and, as a certain member on here might say 'Report back'.
PS. This will only work if the switch on the power socket is set to 'on'.

Luckily I think that my radiators are all the mandatory 'more than an arms length' distance from my sockets!  :)

Don't be daft, you'll never get 1/2" rod into a socket.

5/32" at most ;D

Now you're all being daft.   ::)

I'll get the extension lead out and if you don't hear from me again, you'll all know that Ovo's electricity is of good quality!  :)
