Oh yeah, and helped Al sort his hand brake. Drums, shoes, no problem. What could possibly go wrong.

Ah, the cables buggered. Unluckily for me (;D) the local factors had one in. £27 :o so we had that and fitted it. What a shite job that is! :(

Anyway it's done now. Curry earned. :y
Hmmm, a job I keep putty off. But at least it should be much easier on the Bullet, due to no heatshields.

The heatshields are the worst bit, because even when undone access is still poo, not helped by all the crud they collect ::)

We went for the easy option of adjusting the cable at the lever end so that the handbrake starts to bit at 3 clicks and is on by 4 or 5. The wheel end was stripped, cleaned, greased and refitted along with new shoes and discs, so if any further tweaking is needed as the cables bed in, then there's plenty of scope at the hub :y That's the theory anyways ::)

Today has mostly been sleeping of a big tasty curry, followed by new front discs and pads. Had to drill both disc retaining bolts out >:( so much for the usual twenty minutes a side ::) still, MoT tomorrow so shall see what happens with that...

Fitted LSD. Didn't realise manuals have different diff ratios to autos. Not a great deal but I noticed it as soon as I test drove it. Real nice quiet diff which now shows my front wheel bearings to be howling worse than I thought. Borrax I've got an op next tuesday which will put me out of spannering action for a few months.  :( Oh and booked car for LPG test. Went some where else in the end. The first place I tried was turning out to be a right ballsache

How long did it take to fit LSD?

I'm fitting one sunday for another OOfer  :y

Hour and 45 mins taking my time and drinking tea  ;) Way easy compared to the Carlton's I've done in the past. Nice tight diff as well. Today I replaced the bonnet release cable, fixed the shat chav and even got the the rear blind working. However I can see me having to strip it frequently to keep it working. What a bag of shart design.

Spray the runners with PTFE lubricant.

My first Omega had a rear blind that would tie itself in knots every time I tried operating it. One application of the PTFE spray and it worked flawlessly for years after :y

I'll try that, I stripped and regreased the blind gearbox tonight. I've tried all sorts of different lubricants but the box still seems to jam. No way to really shim it to alter the back lash either. PTFE the runner I guess you mean the one at the top of the screen which the arms sweep through as they go up and down? Also I've noticed my actual motor is a bit gutless. Without the engine running it only makes it two, thirds of the way up before the timer calls time.
