Road Wheel Offset Qs
« on: 17 September 2012, 22:09:29 »

With a view to acquiring some 18x8J wheels, I've a few questions...

1. What is the acceptable offset range?
2. Could ET38s fit without issue?
3. Is there any advantage/need to using spacers, with longer bolts.

Sure I'll think of some others...

just my experience with spacers.. there are ready models and also you can have it custom built..

if you are going to use spacers , use T6 aluminium.. very light and strong..  I use 2.5 cm thickness except the wheel center notch (but original thickness was 4 cms before machnining).. however I felt that spacers  create more load for wishbones and front setup..

8j is the limit in my opinion , dont go for wider sizes.. and tire wall thickness will be very limited with 18 :-\

besides if you will pay for spacers no need for using the 5x110 pcd size.. you can buy anything you like..

but bolts should be shorter than normal. (if you will use 25 mm thickness spacer).. more thickness will bring some problems..

Et30 and 38 sport stars will both fit. Use up to 235 40 18 tyres, no bigger on the front.

Handling will be fine with both as there's only 8mm difference per side.

Tyres are expensive in that size range. :(
