Title: That was a tad hotter than expected...
Post by: Rods2 on 13 September 2018, 23:57:33
I put 5 Carolina Reaper chillis in the prawn curry I made this evening not realising they are currently the hottest chilli currently available at 1,569,300 average on the Scoville scale. I don't normally suffer from ring burn but I think this might be an exception, tomorrow. ::) ::) ::)

Your arse will go down to the water to take a drink.  ;D
Personally, I cant understand the point of eating food so hot it makes your mouth feel like someone has put a blowtorch in it.  ???

Before you go to bed, pop a new bog roll in the fridge ready for the morning!  :y

It wasn't a proper curry then. Jaime will educate you as to what a real mans curry should do to your ringpiece the morning after. If there ain't steam coming from the pan, it was a girlie effort.

I had a phaal curry when I was younger and my mouth had been suitably anesthetised with copious amounts of whiskey. When I went to the toilet next morning, it made me cry. That's a proper curry.

(ignoring the pissheads ordering phals after a session, to prove manhood) Its about getting the right spice level to tickle your tastebuds.  Trouble is, like most things, as you get used to it, you have to crank it up a notch, and then repeat...

No different to a Fizzy being scary fast when you first jumped on, but then you have to upgrade to a 125cc. Then before you know it, you have a cbr600 that you thought was mentally quick when you first got it, but now ride in on the throttle endstop everywhere, so buy and R1. Then a Hayabusa….

What is Nature's intention, making something so scorchingly hot that it is virtually impossible to eat? The pepper seeds need to pass through intestines of animals to distribute them over a wide area to propagate the plants, and such heat makes that unlikely!

It is called selective breeding of plants by us. If you look at the original wild plants for most vegetables they are completely different and much inferior to what we grow now.

It was an important part of our industrial revolution where we needed to grow much more food to feed our rapidly expanding industrial working population. Before this time the only people that could afford the food to get fat were royalty and nobility. For most people before the industrial revolution did subsistence farming with surpluses sold and used to pay your landlord's rent and taxes. Key family member death, accidents or illness would see families die from starvation during the winter.
