Omega General Help / Re: Missfire
« on: 28 September 2020, 07:38:27 »
Forget about the codes....I unplugged the EGR to get access to spark plugs. No code present now, missfiring all the time,  lack of power is very noticeable

Hi guys, got a missfire yesterday evening, I checked the codes first and got 12, 31, 129
I believe I can smell a bit of gasoline from the engine bay.
Spark plugs replaced 30.000 km ago + the shortest coil broke and was replaced at that time.
It's a FL 2.5 V6
Any ideas before I start removing plenum?

Yes, old stock probably. It was sitting on shelf in my garage for 5 years after all :-X I ordered another one, hopefully not that old

Thanks, so it's a lottery with HBV. I'll check where the leak is with uv light, if HBV has failed again I'll order another one and see if I'm lucky

Yes, but after two weeks? Which brand to buy to be safe for at least a year?

Omega General Help / How long will HBV last?
« on: 27 February 2020, 21:04:09 »
Hi guys, omega has had a slight coolant leak for as long as I remember. I added some UV dye two years ago into the coolant and found an oil cooler leak so I replaced it at the same time as the cambelt and tensioners yet coolant leak was still there - slightly smaller but still noticeable.
Well two weaks ago leak became worse so I replaced the usual suspect - HBV and woila no leak!  Happy days I
 thought :-\
The leak is back, half of the expansion bottle every 300 miles :-[
Could it be that a replacement HBV failed so soon? It's FEBI branded.

I added some UV dye today again to track the leak

If I cut another key blade as the one I'm using now, shouldn't I replace transponder chip and ring only? Also engine ECU and alarm ECU, but the locks could stay the same in theory wouldn't they?

Omega General Help / Re: Leak somewhere and carpet removal
« on: 29 November 2019, 14:54:17 »
Insulation has arrived today and I went to install it. All done now - front driver side covered, passenger side which was dry covered in another layer and covered red footwells too + some still left for when I'll put the carpets back. I went for a drive and I must say I'm impressed with level of sound deadening it offers. Job done for now until the carpets dry trough.

I'm sorry for bringing this thread back again....What if I can't replace the key...?
Let's say I could find  donor car, does it have to be FL V6 or can it be PFL V6?  Also parts needed should be ECU, transponder ring, working keys obviously...what more and is it a big job to do?
Door lock is acting strange lately :-X If it brakes I'll be stranded.

An update on this thread.
Leak sorted out, rust cut out and patched/welded, all nice and ok BUT
thick sponge-like insulation material under the driver's footwell has disintegrated into small pieces and is unusable now.
What material can I use instead?

Yes Iansoutham, there's a hole there and I can see right out trough it. I just came back from an older fella who owns a bodyshop and he said it needs to be patch welded. Two days work he said. The same guy who replaced rear panels and wheellarces last year. I'm taking Omega there on monday morning.
Thanks for your help guys.
One of the reasons I'm still kepping to Omegas is this forum.
Thanks :y
