Omega General Help / Re: Kenlowe Hotstart: Engine pre-heater
« on: 26 August 2010, 08:35:09 »
Webasto also do a petrol version of their heater. I had a unit fitted to my discovery a few years back I fitted it with a seperate little fuel tank so it would run off petrol diesel mix from misfills. Set the timer off it would go no need for power supply so it would warm up for return journey as well. Ideal as I was running veg oil. Land rover as well as some other manufacturers use a diesel version on some vehicles as an auxilary heater as the engine runs too cool to heat the passenger compartment.

I cleaned mine up using 600 wet & dry with soapy water then a polishing mop with lots of Tcut. If you think you have to change them anyway its worth a try. :y

One thing might be worth a look is it just one cat glowing if so check the plug leads on that side are connected to the correct plugs if not this will give you both the misfire at low revs and unburnt fuel inthe cat which will burn and make it glow. I know from experience after changing my rocker covers and getting them mixed up.

Omega General Help / Re: run out of petrol- now wont start
« on: 16 May 2010, 20:52:45 »
I had this problem on one of mine a while ago could not get any power to the fuel pump. There was power out of the relay but not at the fuse so as I had to move it I jumped a supply to the fuse to start the car once started I removed the link and it stayed running never had a problem since.

If your locks are any thing like mine they've seized up through lack of use now I lube them and use the key just to keep them working.

Can't see why it won't work if caravan socket has a permanent live you could put a small amp fuse on the supply as a precaution :y

If you can clean most of the current oil off first. then it should be possible to identify where the fresh oil is coming from but wear a pair of protective glasses save your eyes you might need them later.

Omega General Help / Re: 3.0 V6 camshafts on 2.5 V6 ??
« on: 03 April 2009, 16:47:59 »
I fitted 3L cams to my one V6 found it made reasonable upgrade but also had fitted improved air intake and lightened fly wheel with an upgraded 3L chip mid range was far better. If I was you I would also fit a 3L clutch plate I kept slipping the 2.5 even though it was new.
