Kurt Thiim (#5) also drove it in the 2005 Nurburgring 24hr.

Why oh why was there never a V8 Omega????
Such a missed oppurtunity.
Look forward to the Cadillac ATS & ATS-V. Maybe a re-badged one will replace the Miggy as a RWD runner?

This is the 2002 German V8Star Opel Omega (Team Irmscher) of 2001 & 2002 champion Johnny Cecotto. V8Star ran from 2001-2003 and '03 was the ONLY season in which JC and Irmscher did not leave with the spoils (Pedro Lamy won in '03 with Zakspeed Jaguar). Sadly this series was outshone by the DTM and was not continued into 2004 and beyond. Hope this helps.

It's been racing in this country for a few years now by Wessex Vehicles, although not sure if they're racing this year as I haven't heard from Alex Watson from the team. I posted up some pics when I was invited to their garage at Snetterton in 2008.....................

Absolute beast of a car - used to trash most of the field when it was running on song!

Not too many people are aware that the Facelift Omega was used as the basis of a racecar at all, let alone that it was in at least 2 series (German V8Star and South African V8 Championship). If anyone knows of more then i would welcome any shared information. I think that the shape of the Miggy, lent itself so well to a being a racecar. Let me know if you agree/disagree. :y :y :y :y :y 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
