Mental health issues, or on the other hand some people are just born bad in my experience.

It is called 'Care in the Community'

In the 1960's and 70's there was criticism of poor care in mental asylums. Many of the inmates spent their time in decaying Victorian buildings off their heads on medication to keep them quiet.

By the 1980s there was enough agreement that 'something must be done' that the Care in the Community act was passed. The asylums were sold off for housing or retail parks. The inmates were given a pat on the back and told to look after themselves.

30 or 40 years have passed so it isn't the same people but where once there was a chance of spending time basket weaving or feeding the hospital pigs or working in the hospital laundry the new generation haven't got those options so some of them spend their time off their heads on spice and sleeping in decaying high streets.

Progress apparently...

Such an unnecessary ballache >:(

At least the damage was confined to your car, and not the house (or garage :-X), only saving grace being lorry fuel rather than petrol. Expect it to be written off though... :-\

Nah. They're not gonna write off an £8-9K car for that.

Depends. Smoke damage, plus heat damage to the rear panel. Any cooked wiring will transfer heat alot further than the visible damage.

I suspect it will end up a Category B :-\
