7 parts would be the 4 frame pieces, two rubber pieces and the screen... effectively a complete screen assembly :y

Agree with DG. 7 parts total including the screen. 2 fitters also helps. The point to watch out for as also said above is the top corners of the trim strip not sitting flush with the body and screen. The third set of fitters I had were aware of this and one of them told me the technique for getting it right as apparently there is one. Sadly I've completely forgotten what it is.

When the screen is off have a good look around the car body for rust particularly the seam where the inner wings and scuttle join. This is your opportunity to fix anything brown and fill in any defects in the paint caused by slap dash previous efforts at removing the screen trims.

Agree with the above. To their credit Autoglass sent two fitters each time and I have to say that when it was finally fitted with all the GM kit, it fitted perfectly and the guys did a very neat job inside and out. No excess sealant, no bits left over the car or on the ground and when running, no wind noise or leaks.
The key to all of this is to politely insist on genuine parts as the Omega simply refuses to allow pattern parts to work in the windscreen area.

The knack, as I understand it, is to fit all the frame and trim to the screen. Ensure that the scuttle is secure in the correct location, and that the body is spotless and rust free/smooth. Make sure that the sealant bead is just right... Too much and the screen will stand proud, too little and it stresses the rubber trim where it clips to the frame*. Glass surface 1mm below body surface rings a bell, but I can find nothing to confirm it... Even the Thatcham Body Repair manual doesn't specify anything beyond bonding part number/equivalents.

* The main issues are either not ensuring that the bottom edge of the screen is tight against the scuttle: top corners then sit proud... Or pushing the screen assembly too deep into the body with a pattern frame: the pattern frame clip profile doesn't quite match the factory rubber# and setting the screen deep prevents the rubber from clipping fully. Fitting the rubber after mounting the screen only makes this worse... The more you press the rubber to try and seat it, the deeper the screen sits and the more the rubber won't clip in. The rubber trim coming off then becomes a self fulfilled prophecy. It is essential to have two people fitting the screen in order to correctly locate the bottom of the screen and to ensure that both top corners are simultaneously seated at the correct depth.

# another reason not to use glue or sealant on the rubber.

Faith is now restored  . .. Auto Windscreens guy turned up this morning .  Screen not GM  but Pilkington . .. but all trims & rubbers were GM.

Guy seems to have done a real good job  . . he commented on the "Bad" fit of the existing screen & said it must have caused huge wind noise as it was.

The new screen looks & fits so much better .

Oh . . .yes  . . . forgot to mention  . . they called him up from WALES  :o :o  to do this job as Omegas are a "Bit tricky  to get right"  if not encountered before  ::) ::)

But definate thumbs up from me to Auto Windscreens   :y :y :y :y

And a big negative to those tos*ers at AUTOGLASS . . . give them a miss IMO  >:( >:( >:( >:(

I think my insurance policy says autoglass are their 'preferred' company. So I guess I'd have to use them.
Having said that, on the two occasions they've done mine in the past, they've been fine.
