Pre-Volume Chamber thingy on V6 ?
« on: 22 September 2010, 00:45:26 »

I noticed that on the pre-volume chamber, there is what seems to be a device consisting of a switch mechanism tensioned with a coiled spring and adjustable stop screw. Seems to have only a small diameter vaccum hose joined to it, no cables... Any ideas what this is for and whether or not making any adjustment to the stop screw position can influence air/fuel ratio?

i think your refering to the front multi ram, dont play with it, just make sure the vacume system is working as it should with no leaks.

Fuel air mixture? its fuel injected, thats all taken care of by the ecu map and its associated sensors.

Its unclear what you are talking about, but like any close loop cat system, the mixture is NOT adjustable.  The ECU constantly adjusts to keep it 14.5:1

Gixer that's the one! just didn't know what it was called... anyway I'll leave it be  ;) Is there any way of easilychecking that the vacuum system is working properly? e.g. will the the sprung switch/valve move during fast idle etc.? cheers, Steve

There are two.  One at the front, one at the rear of the engine.

One actuates at ~1,000RPM, and the other at ~4,000RPM

I cant remember which opens when though, although I 'think' the front Multi-Ram is the 4k beast.

Rev the engine beyond 4k and see if it actuates.  :y
