Facelift door mouldings - Dimensions. (with pics.)
« on: 14 September 2009, 13:22:58 »

If you have a Pre or Mini-facelift and want to fit the facelift door mouldings but aren't sure where to drill the holes or what size then I hope this helps.

The measurements shown in the pictures are an example only and not accurate, use the measurements below!

Starting on the passenger side:-

Front door, front hole - Drill needed = 6mm.
Measure up from the bottom edge of the door 257mm then in from the front edge 37mm. Where these lines cross drill your 6mm hole straight through.

Front door, rear hole - Drill needed 6mm and 12mm.
Measure up from the bottom edge of the door 265mm then in from the rear edge 44mm. Where these lines cross drill your 6mm hole through both skins, then drill a 12mm hole through the outer skin only!

Rear door, front hole - Drill needed 6mm.
Measure up from the bottom edge of the door 276mm then in from the edge 31mm. Where these lines cross drill your 6mm hole straight through.

Rear door, rear hole - Drill needed 6mm.
This is the complicated one due to the shape of the door, I found the easiest way for me was:-
From the hinge end and level with the bottom of the door handle measure 757mm and put a small felt tip mark on the bottom edge of the door handle. Measure 183mm down from that mark starting at the metal lip just below the handle. Then measure the 757mm again from the hinge side. Where these lines cross is where the rear hole needs drilling straight through.

The drivers side is exactly the same to measure but you'll be working the other way around (if that makes sense?).

MOST IMPORTANT! Double and triple check your measurements! You can also offer the door strips up to the marks before drilling anything to verify you are on the marks.

EVEN MORE IMPORTANT! Put some paint (any colour will do as you won't see it) on any bare metal and allow it to dry before you fit the facelift mouldings. We don't want your door rusting anymore than they already do ;)
