We've got a 45 year old Electrolux vacuum cleaner that's still going strong.

......
As for the bonnet opener, I recall some legislation ........

Just looked at both of our Audi's and although the bonnet release is in view, you can't pull it with the door closed as it hits the door card. Well well, you learn something new everyday.  :y
Legislating for stupidity, like everything else.

If mine had such a system, as I have to park so close to a wall and can't open the passenger door, I wouldn't be able to open the bonnet.

These mongrels don't think things through....

You could reverse it in and exit via passenger door :D

Can you read live data?

Had a look at live date, gobbledegooch to me I'm afraid.

Here's the thing, knowing how to do something is one thing... Having the ability or motivation to do it is very different.

£80 to get something done that you are unable to isn't unreasonable.  ;)

Yes, I was quite happy to pay someone to do it, 10 years ago I wouldn't have had a problem with DIY, but old age teaches you common sense, even if it costs money.

iCarsoft has managed to clear the 'Service Vehicle Soon' message, haven't had it come up for 4 days now.

Still won't communicate with the ECM.

If you are only changing the valve, you shouldn't need to be worried, just remove electricity from the pump, isolate the water and change it.
20 minute job if the entry points are the same on the new valve.

even if the valves don't quite close properly, removing the power from the pump will stop it turning on, and you will get a dribble of water at worst, but as it is in a shower, who cares!

I agree, but at my age I'm reluctant to go crawling about in the loft.

Perhaps it will mean something to someone with more expertise and knowledge than me

General Discussion Area / Re: 20 mph speed limits
« on: 16 June 2023, 07:32:46 »
There was a consultation to make our estate 20mph.

As I pointed out, at the minute it's 30mph, and as most people drive around at anything between 40 - 60 mph, spending a fortune putting up 20mph signs won't make a blind bit of difference.

Surprised it has a DC to DC converter as I doubt its a PHEV or MHEV

Thinking about it, yes, strange message.

Surely they're going to encourage drivers to concentrate on their speedometer rather than the road.

Just a thought.

It will have a voltage converter though, or has that nothing to do with it.

As far as I'm aware it's neither.
