Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Charging wire what should be
« on: 27 June 2018, 14:50:12 »
Charging wire from altinator to the battery. Took battery off and used a meter and getting 2.64 resistance just from the wires from both ends. Getting battery light flicker but voltage at battery with engine running is 14.2 and at altinator it's 14.8. 13.1 from wire to dash.  :-\ cannot find any hot spots on wire can see. But I've had to change come wiring as its gone oxidised ie black. Was thinking does it need changing ?

About 20 min or over night and wipe off no soap just clean water. So the kinks are out. Worked and lasted every time done it this way.

there is a slight difference between the gm belt and a bosch belt so there might be a difference between other belts. think the gm belts flex a bit more than others. but found with gm ones if you soak it in warm hot water the day before it all goes better at setting up. has to be big bowl so can fit the belt out with no kinks. not had a problem with lining up doing this. don't it on loads of different engines and had no problems. also goes better on lining up from right side then to the left.

Fixed it the slide control pins were compress down so not contacting the board. Lifted them back up and both motors are working now. :)

Would any one know why both head light adjusters would not work. 0to3 dose nothing. Checked fuses all fine have high and low beam and Sidelights but no they not miving on any number cannot even hear the motors going. Put on meter to wiring on drivers side and yellow and first brown has 10 volts nothing on the next brow to yellow. On any number selected. Is it the switch on the dash playing up or something ells as would not thought both motors going at the same time ?

Not necessarily it could be stored damp from over night or rain water.  If you notice the water level and water pressure has changed then it can be a pin hole leak but if up to temp turn off engine and you should hear it hissing.

i have 2 fuel pumps one from a 2.0 and one from a 3.2 the one on for 2.0 is 3-4 bar pressure. and the one for 3.2 is 5-6 bar pressure this is running of a 12 volt battery and a pressure tester.  both from a saloon model.  if you add some regulator the both stable at lower bar. if just open pressure they fluctuate.

Thanks it's engine restore from USA that's it's name comes in a can just add to oil  not cheap but seams to do the job. It's like aluminium in a can. Think it cleans and recoats engine. These is no sticking to the pistons. Bit of carbon on piston tops but not thick. Going to do oil change soon do will put oil though a filter and see if anything comes up in the filter.  :y

just done another check on the compression after been using engine restorer, and think its worked quite well.
piston 1  = 230 psi
piston 2 = 243 psi
piston 3 = 245 psi
piston 4 = 248 psi

so think its done some good compression is up. only used the 1 liter can and done over 1000 miles, ( don't drive much)  only problem have is hit a speed bump on the exhaust and think its done something to the manifold. was only doing 3 mph but the landing was not good it was way to high for a speed bump. been making some strange sounds after so will have to have that off to have a look. ( hit the joint where the 2 downpipes make into one).  glad it was not the sump.

probably a vacuum leak. check the vacuum lines. or the maf sensor needs cleaning. if it was dirty though the filter (on the top). Maf cleaning can get at any car parts shop.

could be a problem with the a/c pump. could be water in the a/c lines. have you had the A/C checked ?

i had the AC refilled with refrigerant just before 2 months , the system seems to be working fine with no issues, how could that affect the car overheating , if there is any water or something similar in system the cooling of the AC system would be poor or non existent but that is not the case , the system works perfectly fine 😊
water in the a/c lines can corrode up. adds more pressure to the pump. pump has more resistance then the engine has to work harder. can lead to the pump failing.
