Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Re: Window switch Pre-Facelift
« on: 03 December 2018, 05:22:29 »
Thanks to Monza I didn't lose my nerve on this. The mirror switch cleaning was easy as I had taken that door panel of a million times and the switch was just laying around there  ::)

But this is a straight forward 15 min job too, you just got to know what to do.
I didn't take the switch of the car I just loosened the cables from their brackets and then put a shirt under the switch and started to disassemble it. Mine didn't come off the console before loosening the cables.

It's as good as new now  :y

Took a pic while working on it.

In Finland you could get one with 5-10€ I believe. But that would take time and could have the same problem  :)

Well how did you get the switch of the car as the cable runs under the airway that goes for back seats and there is not much space for it to come off :-\

I could lay a towel under the switch if I work on the car.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Window switch Pre-Facelift

Hey,

I'm frustrated.

The driver side window switch is very clunky and won't work sometimes.
So anyone ever cleaned the window switch on pre-facelift?
First of all it won't come apart easily, I'm thinking of breaking some of the tips holding the switch together..... but if someone would have experience of this piece of german engineering?  ::)

Omega General Help / Re: Understeer

Camber 1.2 degree.
Toe is now 0, on scale +-0.05mm.

It is understeering again  ::) But yes the front tires are shot from the inside side, so I'll drive the winter with this setup.

Couldn't get to 1.1 degree camber on the right side of the car, anyone know why? I mean I have the adjustment on limit.

To deal with the smell, you could try extending the outlet from the catch tank down under the car with another section of pipe. This is how I have it plumbed on my kit car.

Also check that the scuttle panel is well sealed where the two haves join and at the join between scuttle and bonnet, as the ventilation system shouldn't be drawing in air from under the bonnet.

I'm missing those 2 seals that should be installed into bonnet, on both ends of the long seal. (I believe that the part number is 90493700) So that is one reason.

Other than that the scuttle should be good but your explanation of the joins would need a picture to get me understand  ???

Could also return the breather system to stock ::)

Don't be so negative  ;D

Washed the pipes to prevent getting it frozen.

Noticed also another bug with the catch tank system now  ::) The smell really gets into cabin when heater on. If I continue using the car regularly trough winter I need to re-install original system or then buy wunderbaums  ;D

My average oil change period is 8000km and I drive about 12000km / year. Mobil Rally Formula 5w-50. So that is probably good.

But have to say that the engine feels very smooth and it is nice to know that the engine gets only clean air. No exhaust gases and no oil fumes.

Now all breather pipes goes to catch tank and plenum is blocked.

Problem or not but now it is making that creamy oil into pipes that go to catch tank.... I think it is normal as it has done that before but maybe not this much. Any thoughts?

I suspect this mystery is solved by the revelation that the breathers are open to atmosphere :)

Well, only the small one but yeah

For info, MAF has no impact on idle rpm, that is based purely on rpm, hotel load (to an extent) and coolant temperature.

So rpm is high always going to be either a result of throttle valve not closing fully, idle valve sticking or un-metered air getting in.

Good to know!

Is it possible that a leak in exhaust manifold or other parts of exhaust could impact on the rpms? Or is that only going to change how much fuel goes in?

I ended up blocking the two big breather pipes on plenum and lead the pipes to oil catch tank in front of the idler pulley. I have emptying hole at the bottom of the tank in which I connected 6mm pipe and led that under front bumper where it is easy to put a bucket under it and empty the tank.

Fuel tank fumes pipe and also the smaller breather pipe was left untouched.

Well I re-installed the ICV, re-installed intake from plenum to air filter, cleaned air filter.

Only problem I found was that one of the pipe clamps was loose and when I  tried to tighten it again it wouldn't go tight as it only turns around if you know what I mean. But yeah bought new clamp.

Started and it almost stalled the first time and now highest revs in a week has been about 1800rpms. So I guess it was some leak after all, it was just hard time to believe as the intake has been re-installed so many times and it hasn't been fixed before....

Thanks again fellow omegaowners :)
