General Car Chat / New exhaust
« on: 24 December 2017, 00:28:57 »
I’ve noticed that the new back box on my exhaust is cylindrical and the old standard one was rectangular, any reason for the change?

General Car Chat / My toy is getting expensive
« on: 16 December 2017, 10:37:02 »
There are a few rounderbouts where I live but I was surprised how quickly the omega has gone through all four tyres, (I’ve only lived here just over a year) I knew the exhaust Baffels were breaking down and for the past year as the sound of someone ratteling change under the floor has got steadily worse to the point she’s no longer quite at motorway speeds on the rare occasion she’s pushed.
After all the work last year I was surprised to find the sump had a lipstick pink staining on the front and have been topping up the coolant for the last couple of months.
A leaking radiator is bad enough but, the AC has leaked and needs a replacement pump as well so it’s proving to be a costly Christmas but I wouldn’t be with out her and hopefully she can go back to summer use only when I get my new car😊

General Car Chat / Coolant losses
« on: 07 November 2017, 16:14:51 »
Over the last few months I’ve had a slow but consistent drop in the coolant level, first time the V6 got a can belt, water pump and thermostat as it was leaking.
There were cam cover gaskets and leads as she was leaking oil, the second time she was compression tested to make sure the head gaskets weren’t leaking and they are ok.
Has anyone on here had any issues like this and where’s the coolant actually likely to be going?
There are no signs under the omega at all so far

General Car Chat / Omega Values
« on: 28 October 2017, 18:07:58 »
I bought a copy of practical classic last week and was pleased to see they among others like honest john are beginning to be tip the V6 Omega as a future classic.
They are running a 3.2 Elite on there fleet and are sighting the rise in Senator prices as a reason to buy Omega's now while prices are low.

General Car Chat / Blowing exhaust
« on: 28 October 2017, 17:59:56 »
over the past few weeks I’ve been driving around thinking the Omega sounded a bit louder than useual, mostly when at cruising speed.
I thought it was just me until the other week when I started her round at a mates house and he commented that she sounded a bit throaty.
Knowing there’s a couple of dents in both down pipes, the centre box sounds like a charity tin and the shealding is braking around both cats so I’m thinking she’ll need a complete system.
Any one on here got experience of costed etc, I did see a compleat system at £1000 for parts alone?

General Car Chat / Busy Saturday for my CD
« on: 15 October 2017, 18:29:48 »
I popped over to see a mate yesterday and help tidy up his Audi, didn’t take long to get my omega in the air and all the wheels  off.
It didn’t take too long to get the wheels cleaned inside and out, the arches cleaned and suspension polished so she looks like a new car.
The bad news is that she’s sounding a little throaty of late and needs a new exhaust and with the wheels off it would seem she needs 4 new Dunlop’s and the tracking needs a tweak.

General Discussion Area / Busy day in the life of my CD
« on: 14 October 2017, 23:14:18 »
I popped over to a mates this morning to help sort his Audi and somehow my omega spent a fair while in the air having the wheel arches cleaned and suspension polished. The wheels all got the same treatment, polished inside and out.
The bad news is she needs 4 new boots and a complete exhaust system by the sound of it as she’s a bit raspy!

General Car Chat / Holden
« on: 01 October 2017, 21:16:12 »
Now Vauxhall/Opel are owned by the French is it possible to have a VX Holden tie up?
Where will Vx’s top of the range performance barge come from?

General Car Chat / New auto glym trim cleaner
« on: 30 August 2017, 14:58:32 »
Last week I bought some auto glym trim cleaner, rather than green and lumpy it's clear , gloopy and smells of almonds.
It's left the trim with a really high gloss finish but can be dulled with a towel so I thought I'd go over the tyres where again it's left a high gloss finish that seems hard wearing as it's still looks fresh a week later, even though it's been raining.

General Car Chat / Vauxhall scrappag insentive
« on: 06 August 2017, 11:20:31 »
for a little while now I've been looking at getting an Astra for daily duties and retiring my omega to weekend summer use.
I know VX are offering a £2000 scrapag incentive but I was sad to see a mint looking 3.2 Elite with the words scrapag deal in the windscreen at my local dealers last week.

General Car Chat / How many left site
« on: 29 June 2017, 11:03:47 »
Reading the valuation of the silver MV6 i was interested to see the claimed 73 left and went on a site to see how many CD 2.5 V6 autos were left.
Apparently there are 17 2.0 CD autos, 12 CD 2.5 V6 autos, 9 2.5 TDs, 1,546 CDs not specified, 32 TD autos and 469 CD V6 autos I can only assume are 2.6.
I wasn't aware TD autos were an option ?

General Car Chat / Sick car
« on: 02 June 2017, 18:05:41 »
It's been an interesting week this week, first she's started randomly accelerating with out my foot on the throttle and randomly stalling at idle.
I know she's struggling to start from cold randomly but is this all Lilly to be linked?
Some on here have said the crank sensor is probably the cause of failing the fail to start but she turns over leading me to ask if it's fuel delivery ?

General Car Chat / Random non starting
« on: 23 May 2017, 21:29:29 »
I've just had all the leads and coil pack replaced on my V6, with increasing regularity it struggles to start. When this happens it takes about 4 goes before she fires.
Is this a fuel pump issue or injections? She cranks over ok

General Car Chat / Wishbones
« on: 08 May 2017, 19:48:24 »
over the time I've driven my car I've noticed that the wishbones are suffering.
Clearly the bushes are over the hill, any idea how much these cost to replace?
