i hate weird issues like this but hopefully it might be solved and if it does reoccur you will see what cylinder it throws up . quite fun little cars when they are working right !

you could always add an extra inline filter in the supply line in a more accesible place but sounds like you are on the right track now

i seem to remember there is a filter but its a strange style rather than just an inline cylinder type.
worth replacing it anyway.
how easy is it to change an injector on those. if you have already tried the coil and then a plug its the last port of call to see if the misfire stays on number 3.
after that its checking wiring ,ecu, live data etc

i think the2035 deadline will change again anyway once we get near to it !
but i for one ( probably along with a lot of you here ) will never be going down the ev route anyway if we can help it . so long as petrol is still produced ive enough cars to see me out !

as far as i remember there is also a machine that flushes and refills it in one go by pumping new in whilst old comes out ?

the issue is the torque converter . if you drain the sump you drain a percentage of the fluid but none of the torque converter and it holds a lot of fluid . so as the engine is run again the new fluid circulates and replaces the fluid in the torque converter which mixes with the old fluid . every time you drain and refill you get more of the old "mixed in" fluid out !

Omega General Help / Re: Omega V6 downpipe gasket
« on: 27 February 2024, 09:28:30 »
on some cars ? the front pipe gasket can fail early if it wasnt tightened enough to start with or if you made the mistake of using any sealant !
so in theory if the mating surfaces are good and clean. tightened correctly and a good quality gasket with no abnormal movement of the actual pipe and aligned correctly all should be well ?

hi. usually central locking faults seem to be connected to the actuator solenoid in the door. this has microswitches which can go faulty. easiest way is to replace the unit with a new or known good one  .or strip yours and replace the little microswitches.  good time to also lubricate the lock mechanism whilst your in there and check it isnt seized or getting stiff or the central cam isnt falling off its shaft !

General Car Chat / Re: Lotus Carlton/Omega
« on: 21 February 2024, 13:16:08 »
i remember looking at the brochures and seeing the carlton 2200 cdi in carnelian red thinking it looked a fine machine . 1994 and that dream was realised and the car didnt dissapoint . very comfy ride with more than enough power . still have it to this day . not bad on the rust side either with it seeming to bear better than the model that followed it . strut tops were a rust trap that killed a few ( mine were replaced with 2mm galv shortly after i bought it and whilst the area was still very good and still perfect now )
the mk3 carlton however was always bad on front chassis leg tops but otherwise nothing too bad elsewhere .( similar to omegas )
nothing that would scrap a car if you did your own repairs( maybee so if you sent it to a garage !)

Omega General Help / Re: Guess what? - An Oil question!
« on: 02 February 2024, 13:13:53 »
yes i have noticed that the omega does tend to produce mayo but luckily due to the design it collects up in the (removeable) filler neck so easy to clean out now and again. not helped with mine with short journeys but it has had gm oil in for the last 3 changes.  be nice to know if other oils are better / worse in this matter .ive heard that castrol is bad ?.
mannol will be my next choice especialky at around £45 for 20l

Omega General Help / Re: What code reader do i need?
« on: 30 January 2024, 11:13:58 »
obviously if the car has stood for a while with old fuel in the original fuel may have gone off .  modern fuel doesnt last long. although the new fuel now put in may mix and help a little .( it may run better once this has come through ?) if you have access  to a fuel pressure tester then it wouldnt hurt to confirm pressure is there and correct .
charging the battery fully obviously wont be an issue but doesnt sound like your problem here.
maybee clear the codes and see if they come back. also check the cam sensor connection !.
can you keep it running by holding a little throttle ?

and remember to not tighten the new one up too silly as its a tapered thread and you dont want to crack the housing
