I looked for a long while (probably a year that I've had a search running on eBay) and only a couple came up - Joff's CDX w/ leather etc was the closest I came to finding one.

Then in the last week or two about three have popped up on eBay... ;D

All Dti's come with the Edwardian signal box. Connected to the heeeuge long throw pedal on the left. Which vibrates ..... Quite a lot.

The manual box in my old 2.6 wasn't as slick as that. ;D ;D

Had two round here. Both same. Can feel every rpm. Iirc, worse as the cable travel play is taken up and actual clutch movement starts. Or at least that's what it feels like.

Something wrong there then as the clutch is hydraulic. Perhaps a worn DMF?

On both cars the same? I put it down to the Dti lump tbh.

Gearbox has always been good on the ones I've had and in the 2.6 Elite I had for parts 3 years ago, Josh even said how nice the gearbox was when he drove it down from Oxford area for me :-\

Well, it wouldn't be the first time stuff goes unnoticed.

It's not present on the V engines, which is why it stood out, to me anyway. Not a pleasant  experience, one was an Elite. Wobbly suspension, vibey long throw clutch, Edwardian box, noisy at tickover, out of puff very early in the rev range...

...although 600miles range is nice, and reasonably civilised once pootling along and, with foot off the clutch, it almost feels smooth. ;) ;D

I think I would have noticed to be honest. Maybe engine mounts can suffer a bit more on the DTi lump  :-\

Best way to smooth out a DTi's idling is to sheer off the crank pulley, they drive a lot smoother when the PS pump, Alternator, AC compressor and Water pump aren't being driven!!!

Yeh they can be noisy at tickover, once fully warm (a good 20 mins of driving!) they quieten down quite a lot. You learn to extract the best from the limited range that the turbo is on song and sit happily at 85 all day long on the motorway. The initial sluggish pull away can be improved by gutting the (not required for MOT) cat.
