Slack throttle cable on 2.5 V6

Hi all,

This is the only Omega I've ever driven so just let me know if it's normal and supposed to be like this. There is a lot of travel at the top of the pedal before there is any tension on the cable and you can pull the cable with your finger for around an inch before there is any tension or the throttle moves at all.

Is there a simple way to adjust it or will I have to fit a new cable? Just thought I'd ask for advice before I take anything apart

The cable ought to have a clip where it goes through the bracket on the throttle body. Without it, or with it incorrectly fitted, you get the reported problem

What Nick said /\ /\ theres like a Circlip that holds the outer cable in place at the TB end, you can use a Cable Tie as a temp fix until you get the clip sorted.

Here is what I have. Should there be something else here too?

No, it's all there. Left hand side of the pic, about half way up, the black cable outer ends in a length of black plastic with a series of rings it it. There is a metal clip in one of the rings, which can be removed and placed in a different ring. This locates the cable outer nearer or further from the throttle lever, thus adjusting the idle setting. It wants to be set with the minimum amount of slack in the cable without your foot on the pedal.
