Title: Crank Sensor Question.
Post by: zirk on 03 November 2017, 23:10:44
Will a faulty or suspect Crank Sensor pump fuel when the engine is cranking over pre start up?, (V6, 2.6 and 3.2)

When the Green Flab man wrongly diagnosed a faulty fuel pump insread of the real reason for my non-starting - the crank sensor, I asked him to confirm if there was a fuel feed.
He undid a fuel union whilst I cranked the engine, and petrol flooded out!
I think that both ruled out my fuel pump and also answered your question?

"Green Flab" must have been a Freudian slip - he was a big boy!  ;D

Depends, I had few different symptoms when sensor fail but don't bring fault code
No fuel but ignition
Fuel and ignition
No fuel no ignition

All above was faulty crank sensor

Cheers Ron, it confirms something  :y

Maybe Im going mad, but from memory, Ive had a 2.6 that did pump fuel and a 3.2 that didn't, or maybe I dreamed it   :D but in both cases a replacement CS cured the problem :-\
