Driving along the M4 eastbound between Cardiff and the Severn Bridge this afternoon, I saw 7 or 8 white vans driving at speed in the opposite direction towards Cardiff.
They had blue light bars on the roof which were on, a short black and white chequered strip along the drivers door, blue and yellow chevrons on the back doors and a strange white chunky antenna/radar type thing on the roof behind the blue lights. Other than that they had no insignia or badges to indicate who they were. :-\
Any ideas Chaps? ??? Whoever they were and where ever they were going they were clearly in a hurry! ::)

Anti terrorist/ firearms squad? :-\

Correct. I understand there is a national CT response unit based in South Wales.

All wrong . . . . .
Delivering my Saturday night curry :y

Could well be C&R teams from HMPS going to a prison disturbance / riot , unlike the papers report we deal with riot situations not the Police.
-
I just thought it was strange that there was no insignia, and I would have thought any sort of Police unit would be badged up. :-\

Most HMPS specialist vehicles are as you described also have dark blue minibuses for staff transportation.

I did wonder if they were heading home to Hereford for their tea. ;) Some of the vans I saw after the turnoff though, so unless they got lost... :D

Actually now you mention it, I think there was a dark blue van, possibly a mini bus. :-\ They were travelling in three groups spread out, and as said in a hurry. Would HMPS from England go to Wales though? ??? :-\

Yes they are a national team , they have even been deployed abroad , the most recent one being the hurricanes where several prisoners escaped from a damaged establishment, very highly trained some of our instructors are used to train the Police.

Ah, the SAS. But, no, they would not be drawing attention to themselves by travelling in such conspicuous vans as these. ;)

The SAS never work by themselves, they always interface through specially trained other units - such as Army, Police, Prison etc - those teams are national and travel around in vans as described

MIB.
Were they wearing sunglasses? If not they were the anti Brexit squad, see em all the time in Spain and Brussels ;D

Round here there is a small truck cab/chassis with a big box body on it which is similarly marked up.Everyone refers to it as "The bomb van" no idea what it actually is,but it seems to get pretty regular use with its lights and siren going.
