Title: van insurance
Post by: raywilb on 10 November 2017, 20:58:03
I tried to get a quote for my sons van , its a Vauxhall vivaro 1.9 td .the trouble was I couldn't give enough info & my son is not contactable during the day ( not allowed mobiles use because of the environment he,s working at ) any way I took a few quotes today all around the £700 mark. before I retired 7yrs ago I always had similar motors for work & I paid around the £200 - £240 mark. couldn't believe it.

I keep meaning to enquire about van insurance as that's probably what I'll eventually replace the Omega with. My estate has been such a fantastic load lugger that I'd miss the loading capacity in any other car.
I've been looking at M-Sport Transit Custom to go with our other M Sport.  ::)  I foresee the insurers asking what I'll be carrying in it, to which the answer will be nothing generally as it will be used mostly as a car. I don't want it getting dirty.  :)
Wonder if premiums have gone up due to van break-in's/tool theft etc., although that's always been a risk.  :-\

If you get a Transit, have secondary locks fitted. Can be into one in under 30 seconds ;)

Must admit, if I were going down the Mum bus route I’d give serious consideration to something like an 8 seat Tourneo Custom

Yes I've seen that thanks.  :y  They even show you how to do it on YouTube and it's something that Ford need to address urgently as most owners are having to fit additional deadlocks.  :y

In the last two insurance renewals my van insurance has risen by 103% .
I've no claims ( ever ) and as i pointed out ,over 88 annual policies covering company, private ,commercial and classic vehicles . I offered them proof that the van has never failed it's annual test and that it has a dash cam fitted .
They basically told me to pay up or piss off .
