Apparently NLS from Vauxhall....

PS. Yes I know they are available Stateside but just seeing if anyone has a new one spare in Blighty first.

General Car Chat / Trolley Jack for lowered cars

Need some advice!

Looking for a trolley jack that will handle lowered cars, at my Dad's house I have a 2.5 Tonne 'unknown' brand one (It's too heavy to lug backwards and forwards between houses) which is generally a good workhorse and I can use for all our cars lowered or not - however this is on a hard standing slabs / concrete area whereas I want to purchase something that I can use on my tarmac driveway at home by sliding a piece of board underneath to stop the jack wheels sinking!

I've been considering this as it's around my budget and seems to have good reviews.

I like the large saddle with built in rubber pad but am concerned with the lifting capacity, obviously the jack is only to lift the car high enough to get the axle stands underneath.

On another note, is it possible to get new seals etc for trolley jacks like this www.halfords.com/workshop-tools/garage-workshop/trolley-jacks/halfords-2-tonne-trolley-jack, I have a couple of these style (one Halfords, one unknown but identical) but they get that sinking feeling now when trying to lift anything sfter a few years of use!

Cheers to Serek and his team for sorting out the MOT on the daily driver, done 30K since last MOT (bit less than usual), Car had MV6 springs on it which were around 90K - bought new from VX a few years ago - but a combination of salt, pot holes and age (definately not a driver skill issue

) has managed to snap one of the fronts so it's now running on Irmscher fronts

As always - Top man, always worth the visit to 'get the job done' by someone who really knows these cars.

Back soon for the 200K Cambelt kit, Auxbelt Kit etc

After a couple of plastic clips - the double ended ones that keep the vacuum pipe to the plenum spaced from the aircon pipe.

Broken on two out of three cars...

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / Bonnet foam rubber

Does anyone know the part number of the foam rubber pieces that clip to the bonnet at the rear and compress when the bonnet closes? NB. Not the rubber ones at the front!

Don't suppose anyone has any new ones tucked away in a spares box?

General Car Chat / Corsa C - Steering Lock wont engage

Strange one, 2001 Corsa C 1.2 SXi with EPS, Ignition Lock works but steering lock doesn't which is an MOT fail. Barrel seems all ok, steering lock mechanism free to move but had to press it down to get the barrel back in, if you take the barrel out again you have to do the same procedure to get it back in.

Anyone know the fix?

My longest owned Omega passed today, no advisories!

The Galaxy is now in and needs a replacement rear caliper and won't be far off two new rear shocks... Can't complain I do very little maintenance on it!

Omega General Help / 18" Spare

Having a car running on 18" Sportstars (required to be able to fit the larger front brakes underneath) I now need to source a spare. Wouldn't be a problem under normal circumstances but with the larger brakes an 18" wheel is the minimum requirement, even then, I believe certain 18" wheels are too tight on the caliper.

I believe I need something with these specifics:-

PCD: 110
ET: 30 (Or use a spacer plate)
Size: 18"
Width: ideally 8J

I notice Vauxhall Moka wheels are 18" but think the are 7J, really need something cheap that I could slap on until I got to a tyre place...

Anyone have any ideas, I would buy another Sportstar if I could find one but they all appear to be in sets of four.

Omega Gallery / Modified armrest cupholder - trial attempt

It's only a trial so please excuse the poor quality, just wanted to see if the concept works.

The negatives are that the handbrake can't be engaged while you have a drink in the cup holder and the armrest storage space is reduced.

Omega General Help / Irmscher Sportstars - wheel bolt caps

As the wheel's have a thicker construction to the standard facelift Elite wheels, the existing plastic caps that cover the wheel bolts aren't usable (you'd never be able to get them off as they would be to recessed into the wheel), does anyone know what the correct dimensions are that I need to obtain and where from?

Can see a few options on eBay but nothing on the Irmscher site.
