Cheers Nick. I was just thinking 10mm was a bit of overkill. But i want to be sure it wont bend or snap. So a 2mm thick piece will work ?

Bit of a strange question but if i heat the metal arm of a brake pedal could i get it hot enough with a plumbers torch. Secondly once and if i could bend it would the metal loose its would it be brittle and not safe to use. Also what thickness would you make a wide brake pedal say 15cm wide when the brake arm will be at one end and not in the middle. I was thinking a 10mm drilled plate.

The X3 in general is one to avoid no matter what.  If it must be that style of car, and must be BMW, get an X5.

Had a look at a 2004 bmw x3 when you slow down you stop then you get a slight thump from the back. Chap told me it was because he has just put on 2 cheap tyres on the back. His  mechanic agreed with. I have googled it and it does seem to be a problem if same tyres are not the same make on all 4 wheels. Just thought i would ask your opinions on this. Yes i can walk away but would just like to know.

Just driven my 50 miles to work on a roads light has not come back on. Am i correct in thinking it cant be maf or air leak as the drive this morning would have put the light on again

Also is it worth while cleaning the maf and if so how do you clean it. I also read it could be fuel filter would this cause the code

This has come up on my audi 1.8t petrol. Car still runs great. I have done a bit of googling and it came back with maf,air leak,02 sensor.
I cant see any split hoses.
would it be just a coinsidence that iam on my second tank of esso 98 oc really cold weather.
How do i check maf..
Code reader said it was lean on bank 1. Would this be the 02 sensor before cat.
can i keep running the car until i can fix the problem
Thanks for any help iam a bit stuck down here for help..

Never had any problems with snow in my omega ownership bit of xtra weight in the back and all good. But 2 issues now i live down here. Lots more hills just outside my house with single lane traffic 2nd is a fwd audi that just turned into a snow plough when i did get it off the drive. We now have the issue of roads that look like rivers. Went over the hills to work this morning and snow drifts on the side of the road where huge.
I have been looking at a bmw x3 3ltr. Standard size wheels and tyres. Was looking at this as nice to drive for summer and should be high enough and capable for the winter rain/mud/snow.
