ExactlyThe only use of a complete second hand strut is that it allows you to build up a new strut/spring/topmount ahead of doing the actual job...
[/size] New spring, bearing, top mount and bump stop/dust cover, as on all of those parts were knackered on every one I've taken apart. It costs about £100 in parts per side, but means the front end is good for at least another 100,000 miles)more than the life of most remaining cars) without issues. All I want from a strut are the rubber isolators, spring cup and spacers/washers. I still have a spare set of those, so would build a complete strut in a spare 5 minutes. Like I did here:[size=78%]
