I offered him a sweet and he didn't take it, so I gave it to his guide dog.

Good luck Varche.

There are some good sites on driving in bad conditions, http://www.drivingfast.net/techniques/winter-driving-techniques.htm, this one is typical, and while most of the points will appear obvious to most of us, I guess its not a bad idea to re-visit them, especially as these conditions are somewhat unusual. (forgetting about last year of course ::)) :y

It could always be some grit between the glass & the runner, in which case more lub won't really make much difference.

That's what worries me, as it will involve a dismantle and remantle, however, I shall try the other suggestions when its warm enough outside! :y :y :y

Find your local habidashery or tailors supplies shop and ask for a piece of tailors chalk. It fits in the windows runners perfectly and made my windows silent :y

Thanks Lee, sounds good, I think we may have one.

Cheers :y :y :y

For some time my front pax window screeches loudly when lowering. I've tried spraying ptfe down the sides etc. but to no avail. I would prefer not to dismasntle it to fix. Any ideas from anyone who may have had this problem?

...how do you cancel the alarm after opening the car with the key blade?

You just need to turn the ignition on.

You can also lock the car with out the alarm setting (saves annoying the neighbours) by reaching through an open rear door and pushing the 'plunger' on the drivers door. Be aware though, the dead locks won't be on...

I thought that deadlock and alarm won´t go on if key lock button is pressed just once. ?

My OP was about when the key electrics fail. :y

Just got back from four days in France, (that tunnel is great) 700 trouble free miles - well nearly. My remote key unlocking failed, (since OK with new battery), fortunately, I had taken my spare key, so not a problem, but I am frequently out with only one key, and my question is, how do you cancel the alarm after opening the car with the key blade?

Unfortunately they never published one, despite listing that they would be doing so in 1999. I spoke to John Haynes about it only this year, and he said they decided not to due to limited model volume production. :y

You just need to change the bellhousings not the torque converter. I cant remember what i did exactly, but i disasembled the old box first to work out which were the bellhousing bolts. I think they are the larger ones inside. The other thing that is different to manual is you have to line up the thing in the middle of the torque converter to the tabs in the box. That may be common knowledge but took me a while to work out!

other than that, its just the weight of the box and the mess that could be tricky. Garage-D in watford would be capable as a personal recommendation :)

Are you sure about that GM? I seem to recall that you need the TC from the AR25 on a TD. :-/
