MX5 benefits when it has a decent amount of fuel in the tank, really needs the weight over it's wheels, The last one I drove (when the snow was on the ground!) was entertaining to say the least when it had less than half a tank!

I would hope that an MX5 1.8 would out run any Omega, regardless of engine size.

The engine and weight figures should tell you all you need to know.

If I was buying a car purely for 0 - 60 or 0 - 100 performance then an Omega wouldn't even feature in the list, however if I was looking for a comfortable, effortless, large saloon car with good performance in it's class then the Omega would be top of the list.

I thought the Last model Omega was a 2003 reg and not a 2004. am i wrong with my thoughts???? :-/

I thought so too, but some wizened oofer has suggested that upon termination of the omega, some forces kept a few unregistered cars to use later.

Yep, same story with Senators and Rover SD1's

Think it was down to the Americans saying that there should be a common designed socket somewhere close to the drivers seat.

I think the road noise is purely down to the tyres that are fitted.

My current Elite has just had brand new rear GM shocks and GM springs and front GM struts and KYB springs and handles 100% better than before. The rear had to be done due to a cracked spring and leaking shock and I decided to get the front done so it matched (0K rear and 65K front is an odd combination as the front is then far too soft).

The interior trim quality is an issue seems to be worse where fingernails (especially if it's had a female driver  ::)) can catch it - door pockets, gear surround near handbrake etc etc.

I do think the styling was a step forward, it keeps the car looking fresh.

Do we have 2 depths of caliper to account for this, i thought all calipers where all the same?

Nope, different calipers have a different number stamped on them.

Autovaux seem to have a habit of telling lies about the branding of their goods. Seem to remember they did the same with Aux belts a few years ago.

Ahhh....the sound of 'tickets please' and the crash of lots of loose change every time you hit a speed hump.

Followed by a bus load of Friday night drunks decorating the floor etc etc.... Public Transport hmmmm
