Just priced one at the dealers and £178 quoted
A Contitech one would be much preferred
And price not that critical within reason
So over to you guys
 if anyone knows a good source it will be much appreciated

Tc gets it down to about £110/120 but still not cheap.

Most factors can help with a conti, gates or skf kit, so it's a case of phoning round, but it's important to get the right one re the backing plate and non/adjustable bottom roller on the 3.2's

I think that the back plates are slightly different depending on the age of the car, so in theory you could buy the cheaper one and reuse the existing back plate. 

However that might be a load of old cobblers that I've just made up.    If I'm wrong I'm sure I'll soon be put straight and rightly so!

The tensioner is completely different on the later engine  if you use buy parts by they ask for the engine number and supply the correct kit

Good to know, I'll definitely need to be doing the cam belt myself this year, Where about's is the engine number located by the way? Can't say I've noticed it anywhere before.

Good to know, I'll definitely need to be doing the cam belt myself this year, Where about's is the engine number located by the way? Can't say I've noticed it anywhere before.

If you take the engine out, degrease the area around the oil filter and then give the block a good rub with emery cloth you should be able to make out the engine number.

Failing that it is printed on the registration document

And a 3.2 will take the latest type, with non adjustable lower idler.

How much is a good price then?    ByPartsBuy are about the same for one but much cheaper for the other.
