Gearbox woes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: 20 October 2016, 15:32:01 »

Afternoon All,

can someone please advise me if the automatic gearbox selector switch is playing up, would the selector on the lever not be displaying any lights? l mean if you put it on drive there isnt any light to say its in drive, the symptoms l have been getting is car is extremely sluggish to move on drive, manually it will drive ok, 1.2.3 drive.

Have just bought this and the seller says that the garage diagnosed the selector switch, also currently displayed the spanner light and occasional t/c warning.

Any help with be welcome

Cheers :y

What you describe sounds like a gearbox in "limp home" mode. There can be many causes of this, and a troublesome selector switch can be one of them.

I'd say that, if the lights behave normally, it's normally a sign that the switch is OK. They often all light up at once or flicker as the lever is moved if it's playing up.

What are you seeing?

It's also possible that the fuse that feeds the gearbox ECU has failed, in which case the lights will all be out.

Well at the moment, the car will really struggle in drive, manually its fine 1,2,3 and when you are selecting gears the is no lights on the selection panel, also the spanner and occasionally t/c is on

the seller says that a garage said it was the selector switch??
