Vauxhall Omega 2.2 CD 2003 drives door speaker dead
« on: 01 October 2016, 11:54:58 »

Does anyone have the correct colour wiring codes from the car body to the drivers door speaker?

The speaker suddenly stooped working so I guess it is a broken wire between the car body and the drivers door.

Thanks

I think I might of found what the problem could be.

If I turn the volume right up the speaker comes back to life. I have some Pioneer speakers in the front. The speaker that died and came back to life is getting rusty. Don't know what I can do to stop it rusting further.  Any suggestions welcome. Here are some photos.

I think I might have a dry solder joint in the 2 way crossover unit. I have checked the speaker connections recently and they all seem fine to me.

What do you think?

Thanks

Meter through to the speaker, if the speakers are old could be the speaker coil on its way out, also those blue crimps can be a bit dodgy if not made up correctly.

I'll put a meter on it and change those blue crimps with some new solder on ones.

Don't know how old they are. They were in the car when I bought it.

The annoying thing is that its an intermittent fault and the worst to find.

Thanks for your help and advice.  :y

Its this bit "If I turn the volume right up the speaker comes back to life." that would make me think possible speaker coil.

I will check through with the meters and if all is good, I will look out for another matching speaker.

Thanks Zirk
