Our 7yr old rescue pooch Luckie is having terrible trouble with her drivers side hind leg, vet initially said arthritis and has been treating with anti inflammatory and Pardale tabs but it's not really helping much and she's in a lot of pain. Took her back today and new consensus is likely cruciate ligament issue. She's booked in for sedation and x rays as well as a proper examination while zonked which will cost £350 then any ligament repair will come in at £2500. I have insurance covering up to £3000 so will hopefully scrape in with that but should it prove to be Arthritis we are talking an £8000 hip replacement.

Anyone had experience of a doggy ligament repair and did it work ok?

Our pooch has just had her cruciate ligament repaired,  she now has titanium plates in her knee. Operation was end of Feb and she's  almost back to full fitness ..... she sits down with her right leg stuck out a bit. Like you, we had insurance & it cost us £60 though the operation itself was just shy of £3000

Not that anyone will be interested but Luckie was dropped off this morning for a sedation and x ray and does indeed have a ruptured cruciate ligament which will hopefully be repaired under the terms of her insurance. I had to drop her off as the wife was a gibbering wreck this morning 

She celebrated being picked up, and not again being abandoned ( she was originally dumped/left tied up overnight at the dogs trust  )  by liberally coating the posh reception area with piddle.

Well she's had the op done, went well apparently and she's due to be picked up in the morning, really, really strange not having her in the house and eating my tea in peace    Wife has been a nightmare  she was against getting one at first but has been beside herself today  . Vets are happy to claim direct from the insurance company which is surprising and very handy

Glad that all is well. It's a long healing process now. Molly still tends to limp a little at the end of a long day ..... she's  been swimming in the sea quite a bit over the past few days so exercising a bit more than normal
