Another part NLS
« on: 20 October 2017, 19:20:10 »

Been working around the little bits of panel rust left and thought I would tackle the seam underneath the mouding on the rear 3/4 above the rear bumper. Yes there was a rusty seam, so glad I have got to it.

9148386, the plastic "break on removal" trim clips (10 in total according to the diagram but I have 6 either side on mine) that hold the moulding onto the rear wing are NLS on the Vauxhall system.

So is there another potential source for them ?
Where are we in the event of breakage through collision damage ?
Has anyone worked out a way of modifying them to get them to grip the pin again when 1 or more of the plastic tongues have inevitably snapped off ?

A little blob of silicone sealer on each clip ought to hold the moulding in place, yet still allow removal if you really want to.

Thanks, that'll work for all bar the rear most pin on the wing which is under quite a lot of tension, at least it is on mine, to hold the moulding tight to the bodywork. I suppose I could use a piano clamp which should have a deep enough throat to hold the moulding tight in place until the goo goes off.

Swap it for one which has snapped more appropriately to that position ;)

This sort of thing will become more the norm as time passes.Vauxhalls in general[not just the Omega]will never have the following-and therefore parts availability of such as MG/Triumph TR/Mini etc.trim clips I'd have thought would me a more generic part and used on plenty of other models and even makes, the trick of course being to cross reference which ones.

But when 4 of them broke leaving me with 1 either end, I got a bit stumped. I may have found some through a trim and bodywork company in Germany but my pidgin German means it's taking me a while to translate the whole communication. At best it'll be NOS but I'll take whatever is on offer.

I,m sure that Zirfield (Rolf) would help on translation.

They brake when you remove the trim and should be replaced.

I asked my contact at the Opel dealer over here and they are indeed NLS  :( but he told there are a lot of German dealers who probably should have them.

UK and German ebay no luck although I'm now waiting for delivery from a supplier in Hannover who initially seemed confident that Opel dealers would be able to supply with no problem.

I'll wait to see them drop onto the doormat, then I'll be happy.

Got any dimensions? I’d be amazed if the link I provided doesn’t return either the correct one or something similar enough to work... They stock almost 60 different types of clip ;)

It's a multi-lugged asymmetric piece designed to fit across a wire cage and the part number doesn't cross over to any other Gm Europe vehicle, so very specific.

A 3D printer would sort it, sadly I only have the 2D paper sort. Will update if they do turn up.
