...... Over the last twenty years, manufacturers have made cars much harder to open. Which considering how easy it used to be was overdue.

My Cortina could be opened & started with anything that resembled a key  ;D ;D

my £25 Cortina wasn't too bad, as it hadn't done many miles. Most of my Capris were a different story ::)

when alls done & your daughter  is in. why not get a key cut even if its not programmed just keep it in her handbag, when I bought my present mig it came with 2 programmed keys & a blank which was cut so it will get me in,

i keep a spare key permanently in/on the car, in a hidden place that can be accessed in emergency, with a little effort (but less then bending the door). main purpose though is to be able to drive the car if i lose my normal key.

Handbag was in the car, as was her RAC membership card, her phone, in fact everything she might have needed. Solution might be have spare key in a magnetic box somewhere under the car.

I used to have a MK2 escort that was rotten in the area where the window frame was welded to the shell of the door so all you had to do was pull the frame out like a 2CV and unlock it..

I double locked myself out 2 years ago! Locked keys in the boot!
Took AA 1 1/2 to get in!
Ended up prying the boot and putitng a charge to the boot lock wires. Took 5 mins once he figured out how!
