Even my Mrs achieves that, and she only drives short distances around town and has lead boots. Me thinks you know that though and are jesting.

I said we like to get 40+ mpg.    Whether we achieve 40+ mpg is another matter! 

That said my trip computer on the Mondeo was showing an average 48 mpg the other day when I tried. 

Your not trying hard enough....my 1.6 Mondeo is saying 50.summat

I'm sure if I can try over an entire tank, and bumblers keep out of my way, I can get below 30mpg (real, not the dreaming FC that Jag fit).

I can manage that in a 2.0l Capri!

Now that my astra and I have become used to each other, the FC is showing around 45mpg. That’s not bad for poodling around town.

Over 50 on mine now since I serviced it, I suspect it may have had the wrong grade of oil in it previously. Can't think of what else it could be, wasn't that ganked up.   


Doing 75% of my miles on the motorway is helpful in getting the mpg up

I set my self a challenge to see how high I could get the mpg, feathering the accelerator pedal to get it to change up at the earliest opportunity. Trouble is...I can’t stop doing it now. If I drive/accelerate normally, I still get 40+, but I’ve become a tree hugger

So 40mpg @20p per litre - equivalent to 240mpg. Its usually better than that though, as its usually free. 
Omega has done 23.9mpg over the last 1000 miles.

Its waste veg oil. This particular pizza restaurant changes it so regularily, its almost like new oil, so he wont give it away like most of them do.
I have a small local collection from a place which makes nothing but curry. The oil is bright orange and my cars exhaust smells like the extractor fan at the back of an Indian restaurant.
