I worked in Germany for a number of years & had to catch a local train. I cant remember ever a train being late, nor a tram or bus.

Took bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto few years back, it was raining for part of it. They appologised for only doing 140mph, once rain cleared I felt push back in seat as the train gunned it from 140mph upwards....

Before HS1 was finished you certainly noticed the difference in speed each side of the Chunnel when using the Eurostar, which was also as punctual and reliable as everything else with British and railways in the sentence. :( :( :(

I want to go back to Japan for my 40th next year and if I do, the bullet train is definitely on the list - I wasn't there for long enough last time.

It's such a great experiance, I feel for the conductor he bowed on entry & exit of each carriage, it had 18 of them.

As you know I used Chiltern for nearly 3 years, I found them very reliable.

Far more so than South West, Great Western, Southern.

I have been using them since long before privatisation, and cannot see much in the way of improvements, only the rules now allow them to be 15mins late before calling them late.

They would need to fall on their sword in Japan for that. :)

Someone should have bought you a nice Hornby and a box set of Thomas the Tank engine when you were a little boy, to help resolve this hatred.  ;D ;D

Same here. Train sets were for the nerdy 'mummies boys' when I was at school. ::)
