Nice little article. There seemed to be way more manual V6s for sale just last year - has this winter killed them off?

I'm kicking myself for missing one that came up last year. I was on my way to see it (a day later than planned) when the seller called me to say it had been sold.

He says you should buy a manual because an auto would blunt the performance. Good luck with that.

I've owned 3 Omegas and 2 have been manual. If I buy one with a slushbox, then I'll probably retro fit the manual box.

I'm on my 4th with 5 engines.
The first 3 with manual boxes.
This one started off with a slushbox but its now gained a 3rd pedal and tbh, I wouldn't change it for the world.
3rd gear can be a bit notchy but once warmed up, its okay.

As for the slushbox, if it had a extra gear then maybe I could live with it but much prefer to be in control with a manual

I've had 2 a 2.6 CDX manual saloon & a 2.2 CDX auto estate , the saloon was up till now the best car I have owned bought it with 50,000 miles kept it 5 years and put another 50,000 miles on it never had any problems at all.
The estate was okay reliability wise but definitely underpowered. Now replaced with the Merc , Jeep & Subaru Forester.

The Desmond does go better with a manual box. The auto needs thrashing a bit compared to the V6. Fortunately it is a reasonably rev happy engine, albeit a touch thrashy compared to the V6.

Apples and oranges really  :y

My daughter loves her Forester, 2011 I think, recommended by an OOF member, thanks for that. She has had it 5 years, and I doubt will get rid until it gives up, even though she could afford a Ferrari! :y
