Some of those landscapes look pretty brown and parched.  Have they had a dry summer?  :-\
Oz has been roasting since September...

Yes I saw that they've had 40°+ in Sydney recently!  :o  ::)

New Zealand has a very different climate to Australia though. It has a temperate maritime climate similar to ours, whereas Australia has a continental climate.  ;)

Some parts are extremely dry, around here fire risk is"extreme",  all outside fires banned, watering restrictions in place. Three large grass fires in the past couple of days,  one caused by sparks from a lawnmower blade striking a stone. System seems to work well,  5-6 fire trucks and a couple of helicopters with monsoon buckets to knock it back fast, then more in if needed. Fire a Wanaka had 8 helis at its peak. Luckily some big lakes around to use as pickup points.

Some of pictures of the Wanaka fire, first 2 while it was going on, second 2 some 15 days later. As you can see, quite big, took 8 Helicopters, 6 ground teams and some 8 hours to put out.

We were supposed to be going up the road you can see on the right hand side when we went out on the 3rd, guess what we didn't do !! Second lot taken when we went through Wanaka on our way to the Blue Pools on the 18th.

Hopefully I've got the coding right this time and won't need Marks help !!
