How often do you think nuclear false alarms happen?

(1/1)

Rods2:
Interested in people's perception on how often they think these false alarms occur. 8)

Sir Tigger KC:
Jeez you're full of the joys of spring tonight!  ::)  ;D

I've gone for once a month as I reckon it happens a lot more often than we realise, but everyday?  :-\

Doctor Gollum:
Voted optimistically  :D

Varche:
I voted very optimistically then.

Maybe they happen regularly in the Middle East? Maybe Pakistan/india. Korean peninsular.

Cant wait to find out it is “often”

Lizzie Zoom:
I am only aware of one really major false alarm during the Cold War when the early warning system of the CCCP went off after apparently detecting missile launches in the USA some time in 1983.

Apart from that we have come close to WW3 a number of times, but 1962 will always be in my mind as THE closest moment.  This I remember as my Royal Navy father was at the time a Petty Officer in Signals and saw through official communications, the details of which he never divulged, the build up of the Cuban Missile Crisis which you could see as fear in his face when he came home.  The relief he felt when it was over was highly noticeable.
