End of an era
« on: 18 February 2018, 21:29:23 »

Our well cared-for TD Estate departed for pastures new today after years of sterling service.
It's taken us everywhere in comfort, been lovingly maintained and utterly reliable.

Mrs Seth's now retired and I'm semi-retired, so the decision to part with the best-ever car that we've owned hasn't been an easy one. My present health situation can make fettling our trusty steed quite difficult for me. However, it's gone to another good home here in The Valleys with a colleague of mine and a complete body refurb is about to begin. Entwood's kindly agreed to post a photo, so thanks Nige!

So take care all you OOFers out there. Hopefully, we'll see you on our travels!

Now ... Someone's bound to ask what's replaced it on caravan-towing duties ...

Only been in one once, comfy thing, and by all accounts a cracking tow car. Hope it serves you well!  :y

I've started thinking about a replacement tow car. Trouble is there aren't many that can comfortably tow 1865kg, that are not FWD, are not slip & grip semi 4x4 or have a DSG  type automated manual gearbox.  :-\ :-\

When I replace mine it'll be another of same just newer, best thing I've ever towed with and you really do have to check the mirrors to make sure the van is still there !!

Was that your Merc up on the ramps t'other day Andy....? Quickshit in Bury....? Went passed on Monday afternoon after collecting my son from his mates.....

My 2.4 V70 estate tows our tintent quite well, doesn't struggle at all, the Omega did TBH could never make up its mind what gear it wanted to be in...

We've been looking at the Kia Sirrento's too, but I want the 3.2 DERV with autobox, should tow our tintent easily.

Don't get me wrong, the V70 does a good job towing, is cumfy and economical, but Iv never really jelled with it....

No. Never use high street tyre & exhaust places unless I'm really really stuck.

You were a long way from home ......  ;D

I was, only because the M60/M61 was proper clogged up and it was easier to go through Bury and Bolton to get home from Middleton than it was to go on the M60/M61....
