I've just had a sit in a brand new performance saloon.
« on: 24 February 2018, 17:12:05 »

The salesman said he can arrange a test drive if I'd like.

Not cheap at £41000  but comes with almost everything as standard. I was quite impressed. :)

Yes, but you get a lot of car for your money, and you're not considered to be having a mid-life crisis like if you buy, say, a jag.

Henry.......once again you have proved yourself smarter than the average OOFer. Spot on. :y

A surprisingly impressive car and for those who don't care about badge snobbery one worthy of consideration.

Yep.....the list of standard equipment is a million miles from what Audi or BMW offer. To spec 'Ze Germans' to the same level you'd probably need another £10000.

Service interval seems to be left over from the seventies though.........every 6 months or 6000 miles. :-\

Yes, it’ll be a race between that and the Skoda superb 280PS to see which is the biggest depreciation disaster  ;D

You're lucky to live in a part of the country where such cars are feasible, Opti. Spare a thought for people who live in densely populated areas, they would be of no use at all.

Is Skoda 4 wheel drive? Normally FWD platform.

Stinger stands out as it’s RWD, hopefully they have tuned it to British roads and softer ride.

BMW M Sport is way, way too firm for me. Car share buddy’s 235iM finds bumps on a normally silky smooth road.

Superb* is essentially a fwd with Haldex coupling to the back wheels... At least the 4x4 Insignia has a 60/40 rear bias in sports mode ::)

*Ever an oxymoron, especially as it's simply a long wheel base wide body Golf :-X

The 3.6 petrol also sounds rough as a badgers arse when idling due to the whole high pressure common rail set up :-X

£41k for a Kia ??? !!!! that will be rarer than a Bugatti Royale in 10 years time. They will sell 7 of them. Two will be written off and four will fall apart or rust away.  :D
