For all ABBA music fans
« on: 28 April 2018, 00:35:55 »

I know their are a fair few on here including one or two closet fans. Well the good news for you is that after getting together, for real, as a result of their recent virtual tour (Music experts; what is a virtual tour?) they have decided to go into the recording studio and create some new music. A new CD just before Christmas should make TBs Christmas shopping easy for Mrs TB. :y :y :y

Well, I'm all for it, if it's like this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ixa1kXjMhAU

There's actually an album of a whole load of ABBA songs in metal style, which is great !

I agree as I find their middle of the road 'pop' style much to tame for me. This metal version is good :y :y :y even better, I'm sure, will be that wild animal Lord Opti's thrash metal concert of all the major ABBA hits. Sepultura's Roots album will sound tame in comparison! :P :P :P https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_6IjeprfEs

I'd sooner have a new Led Zeppelin album to look forward to, although ABBA are all very sweet! :D ;)

Well yes of course, but that's not going to happen is it ?

If you need a good old fashioned ear bashing, take a listen to The Dead Daisies album Make Some Noise  :y

I actually have a couple of ABBA cds and quite enjoy listening to them.Led Zeppelin,Black Sabbath etc were not my cup of tea-although I do have a couple of records by Alice Cooper.Making these new recordings may or may not prove to be a mistake-but time will tell on that one.

In reality I really try to avoid wallowing too much in the past.

The first Zeppelin album was a masterpiece that I still revel in, but it's unrealistic to expect another like it. The same applies to many many others, Hendrix, Deep Purple, The Beatles whatever, here goes a potentially huge list. But It's all in the past. By all means continue to enjoy it all, but also . . . . move on.

No point moving on. Very little good music produced after the mid 70,s. A few exceptions of course, with Stevie Ray Vaghan being the biggest exception. Imo of course.

Well . . . . . . I could agree, but then we'd both be wrong

For centuries people have said that the current and/or past music is best. In 20 years time people will say that of 2018.

Incidentally, my favourite era is probably 80s/early 90s american rock/metal, but no really strong views

I agree on the 70's / 80's. This weeks play list has included several days of The Cult, original Lynyrd Skynyrd, Ten Years After, Cactus, Stone Temple Pilots, SRV, Rory Gallagher (rarely a week goes by without listening to the maestro)  Eric Clapton with John Mayall & also the Allman Brothers, several Blues compilations along with modern bands like Nine Inch Nails and Slipknot. :y :y :y

Mrs TB was like a safari park chimp when she heard the news. Gawd help me.

Its not that I particularly dislike ABBA - its unoffensive, melodic pop with well written lyrics, and guaranteed to fill an empty dancefloor at the xmas disco - its just I do get a bit sick of it.

But the film, I fickin hate that like you wouldn't believe - I saw the stage show years ago when it opened, and thought that was pretty good (except it meant a night in Londonium), but the film is just plain crap and annoying. And the DVD is in the bloody car.

At least with such as ABBA you could tell what they were singing unlike a lot of the rubbish pedalled as music these days! While my musical tastes stretch back to Mozart,Sibelius etc. I do like some modern artists-last cd I bought was the Beautiful Trauma album by Pink-I'm just a little unsure about such "comebacks" being a good move.We shall see.

I'm sure Mrs TB is fully appreciative of the comparison with a safari park chimp ::) :-X
