Aircon fill valve problem
« on: 04 May 2018, 19:05:44 »

Hi all,
I have a Y reg Omega estate 2.2.
My aircon is leaking, it passes the leak test on the machine but once disconnected, the gas goes in a few hours.
Very frustrating  :'(
To me the prime suspect is the fill valve.
Can someone point me in the right direction please for a new valve, and maybe how to fit it?
Thanks in advance. :y

High pressure valve yes, but for a 3.2. I would imagine the A/C parts are the same across the range though.

Presumably they put dye in it on last fill, so worth looking for it, around the valves and the condenser in particular, then you will know before you pay for another refill.

I have signs of dye around the valves on mine, and the condenser is new, so I'm hoping replacing the valves will cure any leaks.
Just need to track down an elusive mate, who does a good job of A/C recharging for around £25.

Thanks for all your input. The airocn is not working again, and when i removed the dust cover , i heard a hiss with bubbles coming from the  valve.
You can clearly see the dye. The valve is f##ked !
Can i just remove the who body of the valve? or do you have to remove the core?

How do i post pictures on here?

16mm spanner on the valve whilst holding the hex welded to the pipe for the front valve, and a tyre valve core tool for the rear valve :y

No, just the core. In both cases :y

Buy both valves and how they are fitted will make sense ;) ;)

I will look at my 2.2 in the morning and see how they compare to the 3.2s  :y

Certainly with the V6s, you can buy the valves on their own, regardless of what the dealers try to tell you ::)

Does your HP valve look like this?

and this should be a photo of your LP valve.

Flick through the photos and you will find some others pics of the AC pipes.

Hope this helps.
