Pedrosa retires
« on: 21 July 2018, 18:37:25 »

Danni Pedrosa the long time nearly man in the big class of MotoGP announced his retirement after last weeks GP race. His diminutive size counted against him in some ways for muscling the bikes around the track and he always seemed very fragile breaking bones/getting otherwise injured practically by looking at an accident never mind having one.

I would think that his lack of weight gave the bike a better power to weight ratio. The more weight the slower the bike. :)

Yes his light weight would improve the power to weight and indeed it helped him get off the line quicker than most a lot of the time. However when it comes to weight transfer to get the bike to go round corners he's at something of a disadvantage.

Having said that, Marquez is about the same size, although he is a little creature from outer space who defies all logic. He was always very injury prone where Marquez just seems to bounce - so far, and imo was never quite good enough to win championships.
He had a bit of class as a person though, and stayed out of all the childish politics that goes on in the sport.
Retirement has been on the cards since Honda finally ran out of patience with his recent mediocre form and managed to sign another top level Spaniard.
There really isn't anywhere to go after all those years on a works Honda.

I fear you may be right. Cant stand the little shit, but wouldn't want to see him get hurt.

I'd like to see the old boy Rossi win another race. It may be too late. :-\

I can see him winning another race, but a championship is probably out of reach while Marquez is doing his thing.
He is currently second in the championship, and says all he really needs is Yamaha electronics to catch up with Honda.  :-\

Now you mention it.... ;D
BSB is live from Brands at the moment on quest channel. They have Shakey Byrne giving an expert view for the cameras, complete with metal cage still around his head. Still talking about coming back next year.  ::)

Sensible thing to do as he is never going to become a world champion in this class and good to see Rossi finish second. :y
