Disappointed with the petrol comsumption, averaged 24.7 on a tank :(

Less than my 2.2 Omega auto, 26.8.

I find the same with our Mazda 3 1.6 auto. 24.8 mpg which is almost the same as my 3.0 mv6. :o

Wife's 2005 Astra 1.8 Design Auto returns 27.4 on the trip computer doing mainly short distances on 30-40 mph roads.

Never worked it out properly and never done a long run in it in 12 months of owning it  :o
Good thing is it has not cost a penny to run bar the usual mot tax insurance.  :)

My wife's 1600 auto isn't much different, it does around 280 miles on a full tank of driving to and from work & a trip to Tesco once a week.

I would suggest your Astra's may be unwell -

My 1.6, although poorly, runs on fresh air (petrol or LPG)....

Our Astras what may be unwell  :-/  ;)  ;) (Commonly refered to as a Grocer's apostrophe!  :y )

SWMBO's car only did 37/38 on a run to the Highlands the other year. It's as well as could be too!  :y  :y  :y

Probably right, only done 6,500 miles in four years when we bought it.
