Made a start on the Metro welding before the rain started.
So I packed up, had some lunch and headed out to Hoo for the day's quarter peals

I had forgotten about that place.I lived there for a few months in 1972.

I remember it as a run down, rickety old village like an English shanty town. The memory can play tricks though.
I hated the place, but I was very homesick for Belfast despite its problems, which no doubt contributed to the negative impression.
I was very happy when Dad announced that his project to move his family away from the violence had failed because the local council were emphatic that we had no chance of getting a house because local people will always go to the top of the list.
Also most job interviews were very short, as in, "we don't employ Micks".
Even if the phrase "asylum seeker" had been invented, Dad would have been far to proud and dignified to use it.
How times have changed.  ::) :-X
Strange then that 7 years later I left Belfast of my own accord to live in England. Teenagers are strange creatures.  ::) ;D

Replaced the dipped beam bulbs. Only one had failed, but as a pair were only £12 it seemed daft not to do them both.

But I CBA.

Removed the n/s headlight, changed the sidelight bulb and gave it a shake. No rattling, so assume adjusters are intact ?  :-\
Thought about reinstalling it,  but manflu and cold temps. brought on a case of cba.
Hopefully reinstall it tomorrow and change balljoint, but depends on weather, manflu, F1 race and son bringing his girlfriend to meet the parents for the first time.  ::)

Already had that lecture from swmbo.  ::) ;D
I reminded her of her Dads behaviour when we started going out. Firstly, he told her he saw kiddies toys on the back seat of my car so I must have a wife and kids tucked away somewhere. Then when she brought me into their house he wouldn't acknowledge my presence in any way. Then he told me that if I did anything to upset her he would rearrange my face.
I took this threat seriously as he was banned from every pub in a 5 mile radius, and had spent several years in Wormwood scrubs for GBH.
Looking back, I'm not sure if I was stupid or brave.  ;D ;D
We eventually got on very well with one another.

Fixed screenwash wash pump, by swapping it out for working one. Looking forward to using 3.2 again, been parked up all week since it broke.

Thanks annihilator  :y

Refitted headlight unit complete with new sidelight bulb to keep MOT man happy. This is a temporary measure until I have the new adjuster, then it will come back out again, so I didn't bother refitting the plastic trim under the light unit.
Removed the knackered balljoint, then manflu got the better of me and I called it a day.
A half hour tomorrow should see it all back together and ready for a fresh MOT.

You might wish to reconsider popping that trim in, albeit without the rivet. The muck on the roads won't agree with the headlight ecu or fuse box wiring if you leave the exposed :-\
