Hi, I have bought a used key fob off ebay, it is the two button type, one above the other, and with the chrome bar at the top for attaching to the key ring. My question is this, what do I need to do to get it work with my car, a 1999 CDX 2.5?

is the key blank? That just needs to be cut.

If not you need to take it apart and have a new key bit put in (metal bit)

Do you have the "CarPass" ? This should have been supplied with the car and is a credit card sized peice of paper, it has a load of numbers on it which are specific to your car.

You need this to get any remote programmed to you car, if you don't have this you need to go to a Vx dealer with your V5 log book and get a car pass. Basically they contact Vx and it takes a few days to get the details...

If you have your old blade with the chip in place you should be able to syncronise the key to your car itself. put key in igniton turn to position 1 press the door open or close button for a few seconds. to confirm syncronisation the door should lock and unlock. worth a try before taking it to Vx.
