Guys,
Went to press the ECO button and hey presto some of the rubber coating came off leaving the white plastic visible on the button! talk about piss poor design; rubber coating on buttons cheap and nasty I think!
Anyone else had this problem, found out that you can't replace the buttons only the control panel @ around £500 , so thought better put up with it , but now spoils the look of the control panel , so am a bit pissed off about that, anybody been able to resolve this problem ?

Oh dear, seems like a common problem. Mines prefacelift, so not a problem I've come across. Hopefully one of the facelift peeps will have a solution

Easily solved, just don't press any buttons.

I only use ECO on short runs on mine, but since i do mostly motorway miles i rarely use it.

All the buttons are fine in mine, 2000 facelift....

Only thing i can think of is look out for a facelift being scrapped/scrapyard

Ive used them before.....pretty good....but you may get several calls from different dealers with different prices.....so unless the 1st one that calls is dirt cheap.....make a note of who called you and say you'll call back.....you may get another call cheaper

My ECO button is OK for now, but the rubbery finish generally does not seem last... Mine is a very well looked-after example which I had from when is was just five months old, yet five years down the line the rubber around the auto gear selector and around the driver's side leccy windows switches is showing it's age. I suspect that on less looked after cars the interior will deteriorate even sooner (except for AA's that it  ). In comparison, my previous pre-facelift (non-Climate) which I ran for 3 years had simple plastic but it looked much more durable.

These are the "soft feel" switches which my mini facelift has.  The heated rear window legend had worn on mine and the heated seat legends were also going.  I got a set off e-bay and fitted the affected switches.  All was well until, one night, switched the lights on and the rear window switch no longer illuminates!

Anyway, it is very common for the legends on the "soft feel" switches to wear at an unaceptable rate....

Mine started life as a hire car (I think big hire cars are well treated compared to noddy boxes) and al the switches are perfect
